Solarpark Middelsee

Together with its partner Gutami, Solar Proactive is developing a 60 MWp solar park with unique landscape and ecological integration south of the city of Leeuwarden, where green electricity will be generated for 21,000 households. The Goutum energy cooperative is organizing community participation and is considering taking a stake in the solar park.

For this solar park, nature is a key priority, and large-scale energy generation will go hand in hand with knowledge development. Diary Campus and Wageningen UR are exploring research opportunities in the northern part of the solar park. Within Wageningen UR, work is being done in various places to connect plans around solar energy, landscape integration, and options for linking functions. Together with Permacultuur Friesland, the managers of Frijlân, crop production is being examined and research is being conducted into secondary land use and how to combine it with solar energy. In this way, the solar park will serve multiple purposes, in addition to its primary goal of generating renewable energy for Friesland.
