Avermieden B.V. is the first concrete project arising from the Innovative Grid Connections Project, in which a private electricity system—also known as a Closed Distribution System (GDS)—is being developed. GDS Avermieden provides 650 MW of solar power connection capacity. A GDS is a set of projects connected directly to the national high-voltage grid operated by TenneT or to the regional grid operator.
In this way, the owner of the GDS can, in effect, function as a grid operator on the network. The project is a collaboration between Novar and Solar Proactive, which develop the solar parks, and Emmett Green, which develops the private network. The network will include storage in the form of several mega-batteries and will also be controllable as a smart grid.
Together with partner Energiecoöperatie De Groene Reus, Solar Proactive has developed the Almere solar park. The park will be built by its new owner, Novar, in 2025. It will be located along the A27, northeast of the Stichtse Bridge. The solar park will cover approximately 22 hectares and have an electrical capacity of about 25 MWp, supplying green electricity for around 7,800 households in Almere.
