Energypark Duurkenakker

Located in the Tussenklappenpolder and bounded on the east by the A.G. Wildervanck Canal and on the west by the railway embankment of the Groningen–Winschoten line, the Duurkenakker Energy Park was developed by Sunvest/ProfiNRG, Green Giraffe and Solar Proactive. The site covers 52 hectares and accommodates 62 MW—approximately 160,000 ground-mounted solar panels.

An important feature of the project is the collaboration with the Duurzaam Menterwolde Foundation on the Sunbrouck postcode-area (“postcoderoos”) project. The partners supported the cooperative in constructing and realizing this postcode project, located 3 km north of Duurkenakker Energy Park. There is also collaboration with the Stichting Innovatief Duurzaam Zonne-energiepark Meeden (SIZEM); with these initiators, the focus has been on implementing secondary land use. Through this collaboration, the parties support each other both technically and financially. For example, the postcode project was built by ProfiNRG at near cost price, and Solar Proactive’s financial expertise and network were used to run the numbers on the business plans.
